About

The Full Story

Hack the Gym is a first-of-its-kind student initiative to infuse our campus with the innovative spirit of Engineering-style hackathons. The mission is to transform the school gymnasium into a weekend sports-tech innovation lab, where students from all disciplines collaborate to build creative solutions at the intersection of athletics and technology. As an athlete-coder, the student organizer envisions empowering peers to tackle real-world sports challenges – from designing smart fitness equipment to coding training apps – all within a fun, high-energy “makeathon” environment. Ultimately, Hack the Gym aims to spark interdisciplinary learning and showcase that our school can be a place where STEM and sports unite to drive creativity.

Founder's Message

My name is David Youn

When I first looked around our school gym, I didn’t just see a space for sports—I saw a space for innovation waiting to happen. What if the gym wasn’t only for training our bodies, but also for training our minds? What if students who code, design, build, and dream could come together to reimagine how we move, play, and compete?

That’s how Hack the Gym began.

As a student passionate about both athletics and technology, I’ve always believed that the two don’t just coexist—they can amplify one another. I started this initiative with a simple but powerful goal: to turn our gym into a weekend playground for ideas, where creativity, coding, collaboration, and sweat all share the same floor.

From smart equipment prototypes to team spirit apps, we’re building more than projects—we’re building confidence, skills, and new friendships across every corner of campus. Most of all, we’re proving that innovation doesn’t need a fancy lab. Sometimes, all it needs is a spark—and a gym.

Welcome to Hack the Gym. Let’s make it happen.
